Writing Group – Libra Theatre Café, Camden Town, London, Fridays at 6pm

Since 2015, I’ve been attending (and now co-host) a writing group in Camden Town in London which takes place every Friday at 6pm.  The current location is The Theatre Libra Café at 37 Chalk Farm Road.

The format of the group is fairly simple.  We work for two hours on our own writing-oriented projects: novels, screenplays, articles, poems, thesis etc.  Then afterwards from 8pm we go to the pub – usually Quinn’s on Kentish Town Road.  Artists and composers (providing they use headphones) are also welcome to come along.

There’s no discussion, nor talking during the writing period – although that is actively encouraged afterwards at the social. So no introductions, talking about your ‘writer’s journey’, readings or critiques during the main writing session.

Similarly, we don’t provide writing prompts or tell you what to write, you need to have an existing project to work on.  This is very much a ‘get writing work done’ group, not a ‘talk about writing’ writing group.

There is a meetup group you can sign up to on meetup.com, if you wish, but many attendees just turn up.  On my Instagram page, @ralphisawriter, I have a post about it and there is an IG group you can join also with notifications about the group, DM me if you want to join that.
